“Bro, you’re gonna look like such an idiot if you do that!”

“You look like a freak.”

“This outfit doesn’t fit me perfectly”

“You might get rejected.”


To these phrases, and others alike, respond with these two thoughtful, profound words:

So what?


Say it like you mean it. Look for a legitimate answer. You’ll realize that most of the time, one doesn’t exist. Society’s perception of you is not an adequate answer.

Why does this work so well?

Perspective. Without realizing it, we have let others become the judge of us. When we fail to speak up when feeling compelled, or worry about material objects, we are essentially letting our fear of perception dictate us. When you step back and question the fear, you’ll quickly realize that one’s perception of you is hardly of any importance to you in the grand scheme of things.


Develop a ‘so-what’ attitude, and focus on building a healthy consciousness of self.
